You can look in the newspaper or financial websites for updates on mutual funds. The funds themselves calculate their net asset value and change in value from the previous day and report these figures at the end of each trading day. In turn, mutual fund research companies rank funds based on their performance over different periods of time—monthly, annually and quarterly.
